BY ABANDONING OURSELVES TO THE LORD, WE FIND PEACE.
Brothers and sisters, may the Lord give you his peace!
Jesus tells us: "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give it to you" (Jn 14:27). These words continue to echo in our hearts because, today, we are so desperately in need of peace. The first and most important step in this journey in order to obtain from God the peace we so desire is trusting abandonment in the Lord; to the extent that we abandon ourselves totally to His heart, we will begin to experience such profound peace in the face of all the worries of this world.
Let us humbly recognize that we often suffer or become frustrated because we believe that everything depends on our own strength and abilities; we are tempted to want to understand everything, to have everything under control, and to take the reins of our future. Let us therefore allow ourselves to be guided by the Lord and let our hearts stop relying only on themselves. In the midst of trials, darkness, or paths we cannot understand, let us make room for true abandonment; only in this way will we find rest, comfort, and peace in the loving will of the Lord.
We begin this month of July, here in Gethsemane, with the Feast of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus. Contemplating this mystery, we wish to continue to turn our gaze to the Heart of Jesus and, together with Him, we pray: "Father, not my will, but let your will be done" (Lk 22:42, Mt 26:42). From the Beloved Son of God, we wish to learn this abandonment, so perfect and full of love; we want to entrust to Him all the joys, worries, wounds, uncertainties, and anguish of both humanity and all the souls who need to undertake this path of abandonment, amid the darkness and storm present in the world.
Brothers and sisters, how much peace we can find if we abandon ourselves to God! All this pleases God and makes Him happy, as a pure act of love and trust in Him. "Taste and see how good the Lord is" (Ps 33), because "whoever trusts in Him will never be disappointed" (Rom 10:11).
May the Lord bless you with his peace from the Holy Garden!
