    JESUS CHRIST:
    THE GREAT PHYSICIAN

    JESUS CHRIST: THE GREAT PHYSICIAN

    Brothers and sisters,

May the Lord give you his peace!

In September, the "Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross" is celebrated on the 14th according to the liturgical calendar. For this reason, we offer you this meditation that also prepares us for our "Hora Sancta".

Let us fix our gaze on the Cross and in it, on Jesus who from there heals all our wounds and transforms our lack of faith into full trust. Through His sacrifice, He forgives our sins, overcomes our doubts, and gives us His peace and eternal life.

In prayer, let us contemplate our good Lord: «it was our sufferings that he bore and our sorrows that he endured» (Is 53:4). These beautiful words written by St. Gregory the Theologian can help us a lot:

«The Great Physician strives to heal my painful wounds. We praise the Son first, venerating the Blood that atoned for our sins. He lost nothing of His Divinity when He saved me, when, like a good Physician, He bent down to my open wounds. He was a mortal man, but he was also God. He was of the lineage of David, but Creator of Adam. He who has no body had clothed Himself in Flesh. He had a Mother who, however, was a Virgin. He who has no borders has joined the bonds of our humanity. He was Victim and High Priest, but he was God».

«He offered His Blood and purified the whole world. It was lifted up on the Cross, but it was sin that was nailed to it. He made Himself one of the dead, but He rose from the dead, also raising many who had died before Him. On the one hand, the poverty of His Humanity; on the other, the wealth of His Divinity. Do not allow the human in the Son to make you unjustly belittle the Divine. For the love of the Divine, have in the highest honor Humanity, whom the immortal Son took upon Himself out of love for you» (Poem 2.26).

Brothers and sisters, we meditate on the fact that, if in life we experience evidence that causes wounds and suffering to our humanity, it serves to demonstrate the authenticity of our faith and to strengthen us. But only one thing the Lord asks of us: to keep our eyes fixed on Him, on the Great Physician, and on no one else, trusting in His love and grace, which heals and strengthens us. Everything is accomplished by the Cross!

May the Lord bless you from the Holy Garden of Gethsemane!

    Hora Sancta

We are the sons of St. Francis, and we are the custodians, according to the will of God, of one of the places that Jesus loved the most: the garden called Gethsemane
